Go to the BBC Messageboards page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/messageboards/ and browse around to see which ones look interesting to you. Then go into two boards of  your choice.

  • Do the two message boards seem similar or different to you? Can you say why?
  • How are the message boards moderated?

I first navigated to the categories menu, then went into the ‘BBC Television’ sub forum in ‘Points of View’. The first page has a lot of old, but still regularly updated posts ( age is assumed from the number of individual posts in the topics ). This, along with the various names appearing as the most recent contributors points towards the forum being popular and having a great number of individual users.

Next I went to the food Q & A forum. These topics seem to be shorter, and I can see some names coming up more often, this is probably because of the nature of the discussions within each post.

The type of moderation in the forums is reactive moderation, where posts are only investigated if it is flagged for moderation.
